If Rune were being honest with himself, he'd have genuinely enjoyed Quinn's company. As far as people went, Quinn wasn't a bad person. In fact, Rune found him to be quite amiable, even if he stopped to consider some of his blonde flatmate's quirks. Quinn wasn't exactly as quiet as a mouse, but he respected Rune's space and privacy, he wasn't particularly nosy and generally kept to himself when Rune was making it obvious that he wanted to be left alone. However, there was only so long that one is able to keep up a barrier of formality before it starts to waver. A clear sign that Rune was getting much more used to Quinn's presence than he'd eve
It had been almost a month since Quinn had moved in, and although he had settled in rather well, things still weren't exactly smooth between the two. Sure, they said hello and had conversations, but it still felt like the awkward sort of trivial conversation you make with someone just to be polite. Quinn had observed that Rune was very much a solitary person, and often wondered why on Earth the Elf (although, technically Quinn should not have known that) had wanted a flat mate in the first place. He wasn't exactly highly sociable, and didn't go to any extreme lengths to come across as friendly. In fact, had Quinn been any different in his own
As Rune had expected, he had not bumped into Quinn since the afternoon in the park around a week or so ago. They'd spoken on the phone, finalising a few things before Quinn moved in, but aside from that they hadn't had much contact. He was currently moving his musical instruments, books and other miscellaneous items that were stashed in the second bedroom of his apartment to new cupboards, shelves or anywhere else the items might fit. Straightening after he'd set down a rather heavy box filled with old sheet music, Rune looked towards the clock. Today was the day that Quinn was supposed to be hauling all of his belongings to his new address.
Rune Kingswood looked around his too-big-for-one-person apartment and sighed. He had been looking for a flatmate for at least a month and not one single person who had applied (all five of them) had seemed at all promising. Rune thought of himself as someone rather easy to get along with, albeit he may come across as a little cold, but some of the people whom had inspected the apartment just never bothered to call him back. Of course, Rune wasn't free from that guilt either, but there were a couple who were far beyond from being able to co-exist in the same room as he. Perhaps he should advertise that he's willing to pay a little extra for th

Kosui and Tsuchi stood opposite each other out in one of the training fields of the palace, both a little nervous as they looked to Kurai for instructions. The day was overcast, and slightly cool as winds blew around the flat field.
"Why do we need to do this Kurai?" Tsuchi asked, "I was quite happy reading books on magic..."
"Because," Kurai called from his position, "practical magic is very, very different to book magic. You can read all the books you like on magic, but applying magic in a practical sense requires a different set of skills. The only way to hone those skills is to use magic practically. Lucky for you, your opponent is jus

Tenkuu had given up on trying to remember where exactly Kurai was leading him. He figured if he ever got lost he would ask someone for directions or use the winds to help him find his way around. He was rather impressed with the details in the carvings along the palace walls and even appreciated the tapestries that were also hung on the walls. Tenkuu even found a moment to admire the delicate carving in the door to the Room of Visions before Kurai pushed the heavy doors open, allowing him to enter first. An expression of awe crossed his face as he gazed around the room in wonder.
"It's almost exactly like one of our temples in my own time!"

It was not a particularly eventful morning in the palace. The sun was just peeking over the horizon, and the palace workers and slaves were bustling about doing their usual early morning routines to prepare the palace for when its other inhabitants awoke later. Kurai stirred in his sleep and rolled onto his side as he dreamed of fields and prancing and other such things that one would not think a Shadow God would dream of. His nose twitched and he swatted at something that tickled his nose, the action brining him to the very edge of consciousness. The tickling did not lessen and, begrudgingly, dark eyes opened slowly and blinked once, twice,

A number of weeks had passed which were rather uneventful. Kosui and Tsuchi had been handling their lessons well, Kurai had managed to apologise to Kumari for the bath house incident and all was well. The newest Elemental had fitted in rather well in his new home. Kosui had spent many days exploring the palace and the town surrounding the palace. He had even managed to find the ocean, which had made him feel much more at home in this strange new world. Tsuchi and Kurai had been trying to teach him about various things in their world that differed from his own, mostly the conventions of clothing, since that was the largest difference they had

Kurai was none too surprised when, as soon as the rune circle appeared in his world, he would be returned in a rather interesting way. He still did not have much control on where he would 'land' after going through a portal or when he returned. Unlike his first return trip, this time he was not falling through the air to quickly meet the ground. Somehow, he had managed to return himself and his companions in an upright position, which was always a good start. However, wherever they had ended up was pitch black. Kurai tried to think of where in his world he could have ended up. The space was rather cramped, in fact, it was so cramped he had no
